Overview
 Habitat for
Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing
ministry. Founded as a Christian organization in the Matthews area,
Habitat for Humanity of Matthews is an affiliate which strives to bring
affordable housing to those who are ineligible for conventional
financing.
Habitat's underlying tenet is to bring a wide diversity of
people, church groups, and other organizations together in partnership
with families in need, to build houses and develop supportive
communities. Families are required to invest 400 hours of "sweat
equity" into building their own home. We believe that affordable
housing provides stability to a lifestyle and promotes growth. The
community as a whole grows from the collective contributions of sponsors
and volunteers. |
