Application

 

There are 7 steps to the application process.

 

Step 1 - Initial Application

 

If you meet the qualifications, please complete and mail the application form below to Habitat Matthews.  The representatives will review your application and conduct background checks (credit, civil, and criminal)

 

Step 2 - Formal Application

 

Representatives will schedule an interview with you where they will discuss what it means to partner with Habitat Matthews

 

Step 3 - Home Interview

 

Habitat representatives will visit your home to meet your family and tour your current residence

 

Step 4 - Ranking Meeting

 

The Family Services committee meets and reviews all information on a candidate and determines candidacy for homeowners

 

Step 5 - Board of Directors Approval

 

Viable candidate(s) applications are presented to the Habitat For Humanity Matthews Board of Directors.  After reviewing candidate information, the Board will either approve or deny the recommendation.

 

Step 6 - Applicant Notification

 

A letter is sent to each applicant.  Those denied receive a letter explaining reasons for the denial and information on alternative housing programs.  Those accepted will receive a letter of acceptance with information about the covenant (agreement/ contract) signing.

 

Step 7 - Covenant Signing

 

Approved candidates will meet with Habitat Matthews representatives and review Habitat's expectations and requirements to begin the homeownership process, including the sweat equity requirement.  Upon agreement to the terms, the covenant is signed and the dream of home ownership crosses the border into reality.
