Overview
Habitat Matthews is hosting its first Women
Build project as a participant in the Habitat for Humanity International
and Lowe's Home Improvement National
Women Build Week.
Alongside single mom and homeowner-to-be
Ulani Timmons, women from Matthews and surrounding areas will join
together for "camaraderie through construction." Women
Build will be going on every weekend through August 15th.
Over 70% of Habitat homes are built for families with a female as the
head-of-household. The Women Build project provides a great atmosphere
for women to learn the skills necessary to maintain a home for
themselves and their children. Women Build also provides an avenue for
women to feel comfortable volunteering on a Habitat build where the
majority of volunteers are typically male.
Your Support
Through sponsorships and grants Habitat for
Humanity of Matthews is able to build homes for partnering families in
need. Currently Habitat Matthews is building 3 homes.
Sponsorship has been attained for 2 of the homes, however the Women
Build-Timmons Home does not have a sponsor.
